Dancing Flatfooted

How did Billy Ray Cyrus do it? Really, how did he dance week after week on Dancing with the Stars absolutely flatfooted?

I'm being treated for another neuroma. Because of the treatment, it's almost impossible for me to use the ball of my foot. For anything...nevermind for dancing.

I've discovered that it's extremely difficult to push or pull a heavy object without the use of the ball of your foot. Walking off curbs. Descending stairs. Ouch.

Sitting while listening to a fantastic band play, with a big, almost empty dancefloor in front of me...Torture! (Swing Speak will be playing about once a month at the Cedar Lane Unitarian Church. Jane Ford teaching the lesson. Wonderful band. Fantastic floor. )

I'm hoping that this "treatment" solves the problem really soon!

FrankieManning.com

Did you know Frankie has a website? It was designed by a dancer and artist that I have a lot of admiration for, Eli Pritykin. If you click over to the website you'll see a link to a wonderful tribute video, pictures, a biography and timeline, and a reminder that May 26 is "buy Frankie's book" day. Don't forget to pick up your copy for just over $18 over on amazon.com on May 26. It'll be Frankie's 93rd birthday, and really, I can't think of a better gift to give our "Ambassador of Lindy Hop."

Traveling Alone

This is the time of year that I do a lot of business travel. And, I'm often traveling by myself. I've come to the conclusion that the worst part about traveling alone is dining alone. I'm okay if there's live music or if I've got a good book to read.

How do you cope?
